There is a known issue with web browsers, Firefox and Chrome, when a user completes many IEDB (iedb.org) searches over a short time period. This error is accompanied with the message “Size of a request header field exceeds server limit.”
This issue can be easily resolved by clearing your cookies from your browser.
You can do this on Firefox by:
- Click on icon in upper right corner and pick Settings->Privacy and Security->Cookies and Site Data->Manage Data
- Type www.iedb.org and Search
- Click “Remove Selected” and “Save Changes”
You can do this in Chrome by:
- Click on icon in upper right corner and pick Settings->Privacy and Security->Site Settings->View permissions and data stored across sites
- Type www.iedb.org into the search box in upper right corner
- Use trash icon to remove all www.iedb.org cookies
