Which assays are included under Tcell:method:activation

Hi,

I was wondering, if the activation assays under Tcell/method=biological activity/measurement of=activation always refers to activation-induced-marker (aim) assays or which other assays could there possibly be included?

Hi, The activation assay type includes any sort of activation that was measured and that is not better captured by a more specific assay type. The assay comments, in column DY of the assay export ( Tcell_activation - Google Sheets ), will better illustrate the details of what was measured. A few examples are “calcium mobilization and tyrosine phosphorylation”, “phosphorylation of ZAP-70”, and “MAP kinases ERK1/2, p38 and JNK. and increase in ERK1/2 phosphorylation”. Activation Induced Marker (AIM) assays will also be curated using this assay. Every few years, we review the use cases and determine if a new more specific assay type is needed. currently, we have 7 references that use the AIM assay. If that number continues to grow, we will create an assay term specifically for it.
